Scott

“The mission made sure I had a safe place to stay.”

For 14 years Scott had a good apartment, until one day the management told him he was being evicted.

“The management didn’t want me to have the unit … even though I’d paid the bills,” Scott says. “They broke their contract and didn’t recognize my lease.”

Now having an eviction on his record, Scott struggled to find housing in Seattle. With nowhere else to go, he slept on a mat on the floor of a local shelter until he came to Bread of Life Mission for a meal.

“I was sitting in the cafeteria and asked the staff if I could talk to them about staying here,” Scott says. That one meal at Bread of Life Mission led to Scott staying at our shelter… and finding the support he needed to get back on his feet.

“The Mission made sure I had a safe place to stay.”

At a time when he didn’t know where to turn for help, Scott is grateful that the Mission was there for him. “The Mission has provided me with a safe place to stay and bridged the gap for me,” he says.

Through nightly chapel services at the Mission, Scott has found hope in a challenging time of his life. “It’s hard to be happy when you’re homeless, but hearing the Scriptures was uplifting.”

Thanks to the guidance of Mission staff, Scott is also taking steps to become financially stable so he’ll be prepared when he leaves the Mission. Once he’s ready, he looks forward to moving closer to his family. “The Mission is helping me better my life.”

Your generous support has filled Scott’s life with love, encouragement, and most of all, hope this Easter season. “Before I came to the Mission, I felt beaten and depressed… but now I’m hopeful and feeling better. I can only say thank you for all that the Mission has done.”
