Our goal is to help people overcome the cycle of homelessness through a Christ-centered recovery model with God's help.

Founded in 1939 towards the end of The Great Depression, Mavel Sherman started Bread of Life in a building on the corner of Washington and Occidental Street in downtown Seattle.

The Bread of Life Mission exists to overcome the cycle of homelessness in men’s and women’s lives through a Christ-centered recovery model with God’s help.

Core Values

·      Respect the lives of those who come to the Mission

·      Restore dignity and hope to those who have none

·      Share the Gospel with those we encounter

·      Encourage others through our action

 Men's Recovery

LifeChange is a 12-month Christian discipleship program designed to lead men to a refreshing Christ-centered life, free from drug and alcohol addictions.

Volunteer

Learn how you can make a difference to those in need.  We have several opportunities for individuals or groups.

Guest Services

We welcome homeless men and women  into our Day Shelter and Men's Evening Shelter. The goal is to restore dignity as they navigate their way out of homelessness.

Donate

When you donate to Bread of Life Mission, 78 cents of every dollar goes directly to those we serve.  You can help us provide a meal for $1.92 which is often the first step into our LifeChange recovery program.

Volunteer

We have opportunities for individuals, families, churches and companies who would love to serve our guests.  Learn more about our volunteer program and get updates on upcoming opportunities.

Help Meet Basic Needs

We are in need of gently used clothing, shoes and hygiene products for both men and women. Please see our list of immediate needs and learn how you, your business or your church organization can help.
