Director of recovery
I began my career in Southern California at the Los Angeles Mission as a Chaplain working with homeless men and women with drug and alcohol issues on skid row downtown Los Angeles. Being a chaplain was demanding but very rewarding in striving to help provide for the needs of those families and individuals living on the streets of skid row.
After many years as a chaplain, I relocated to Northern California and developed my skills in counseling and education. I began working with the California Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation Adult Parole as an educator teaching life skills to those in re-entry from incarceration towards reintegration and to reduce recidivism. After several years as an educator and counselor, I saw many individuals become successful in rehabilitating their lives, discharging from parole, reunification with their families and establishing career objectives.
I then decided to retire and relocate to Seattle Washington. My passion to be involved in community resource work is always active, so I had the opportunity to volunteer at the Bread of Life Mission teaching life skills to the men on the Life Change Program. This created an opportunity for employment with the Bread of Life Mission as Director of Recovery where we have a comprehensive program that uses cognitive behavioral recovery treatment and sound biblical doctrine to bring health to the body, mind, and soul of men.
I am very thankful for these continued opportunities to be used by God in helping to restore those who have fallen into disadvantages of life, i.e.,( traumas, drugs & alcohol, financial and mental health issues) and to find the love of God through Jesus Christ.
