Almost Like Home for the Holidays

In the words of a popular Christmas song, “there’s no place like home for the holidays.” But for our King County neighbors who don’t have a home, Bread of Life Mission provides a family in Christ and a welcoming place to celebrate His birth.

If you’ve never been to Bread of Life, Christmas is a wonderful time to see your generosity in action. It’s also a great opportunity to make even more of an impact by volunteering your time – and there’s plenty to do!

First, volunteers decorate the Christmas tree in our entry hall. Every year, it’s even more beautiful than the year before. Imagine how our guests feel when they come in from the cold, dark streets and see this tree sparkling with lights!

On Christmas Day itself, we pull out all the stops. Guests enjoy a Mega Breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns, coffee, tea and orange juice, followed by Christmas presents, all lovingly wrapped by volunteers.

Then there’s lunch – a traditional holiday meal of turkey with all the trimmings and pie for dessert. Between breakfast and lunch, we’ll serve well over 400 meals on Christmas Day!

In the meantime, remember that you help to provide more than 39,000 nights of shelter every year, and that it only costs $5 to give someone a warm, safe bed for the night.

May your holidays be filled with warmth and love!
