Remembering Dan
Dan Saffle came to us a broken man. One day as he sat in chapel he made the choice to enter into the Give Back Program. It was a decision that changed his life.
Dan worked as our van driver while at the same time working through the program. One day he became very ill and went to the hospital. He received some devestating news. Dan had cancer. As Dan began chemotherapy and radiation treatment we could see that it was taking its toll on him. We had to remove him from any work therapy because he did not have the strength to do his job.
As the days went by we could see that Dan would not be able to complete all of the curriculum for "Give Back" and that he was going to need more than what we could provide. We decided to let him graduate so his parents would be able to be a part.
The Monday before Graduation (June 23rd) Dan went home to be with the Lord. Through his time at Bread of Life he came to have a closer relationship with God. We are glad we were able to be with Dan as he prepared for death. Dan was a good man with a good heart and all of the men in the recovery community miss him. He graduated to a far better place.
